Key West Cottage
Exciting Naples Outdoor Lighting project
The Key West Cottage was a special outdoor lighting project we brought to life for one of our Naples builders’ personal residences. Designed by JDMG, this project provided another opportunity to showcase our expertise in custom lighting design.
Although smaller in scale than our typical projects, the homeowner had a deep appreciation for lighting and wanted a comprehensive yet refined illumination throughout the property.
We began by accentuating the front architecture with wall washes, casting an even yet dramatic glow across the facade. With adjustable lumen output, beam spread, and Kelvin temperature, we fine-tuned the lighting for a precisely balanced effect. To further enhance the entryway, we installed recessed uplights in the columns, drawing the eye upward and guiding visitors seamlessly toward the entrance.
One of the most subtle yet impactful lighting techniques we used was illuminating the false gables, creating the illusion of greater height while adding a touch of dramatic elegance to this distinctive architectural feature.
In the landscape, we highlighted mature Sylvester and Canary Palms from multiple angles to achieve full canopy illumination. As the design transitions toward the rear of the property, modern-style path lights guide the walkway, adding a sleek, contemporary touch.
In the backyard, we carefully lit Coconut Palms, screw pines, and exotic plants, ensuring they were beautifully visible from the home’s interior, outdoor living space, and pool area.
For the outdoor shower, the homeowner requested a soft, ambient glow. We installed a downlight on its own circuit, allowing full control to dim or turn it off independently from the rest of the system—offering both functionality and flexibility.
